Ride with Purpose: The Six Steps While Riding with Jerry Tindell
In the July issue of Mules and More magazine, Jerry said, “As we follow the past few months of my training articles in Mules and More, we now have a clear picture of some simple things to do to improve safety at all times and get ready for our ride. To review: First we used the round corral to teach our stock the Six Step Program - backup, shoulder control, lateral flexion with forward movement, hindquarter control, stop and stand - as well as being good to catch. We then got them bending and flexible on the halter by repeating all the Six Steps of our groundwork until they got better and began to understand. Now we move to using the same Six Steps while we are mounted.”
