New Date & Location for 2020 NASMDA National Show
—Debbie Walkinshaw, NASMDA Secretary; Jay Jaxheimer, NASMDA National Show Committee Chairman; Candace Shauger, NASMDA President
This National show has been like giving birth. I can’t thank you all enough for your patience in waiting for news on the disposition of the show. So let me give you the most detailed update as I can.
The Harriman facility is out. Due to their regents exercising the utmost caution for their returning students, they are not using the arena for events this summer (or if they decide to do so, the restrictions they are applying will make it prohibitive for our association). We will be keeping our deposits with them to hold our spot for next year.
On June 1, AGMA decided to cancel their National show altogether. Although this came as tough news for us.
Our National Show Committee was able to secure a private venue in Shelbyville, Tenn., that would suit our numbers perfectly.
The fly in that ointment had been that they were already booked for our weekend. We were able to book the venue for weekend of July 23-25. This of course presented its own challenges and we knew it was going to be an extreme hardship on all of you to adjust your vacation schedules, plans and lives to try and make these new dates. The big plus to this new venue is that it is a privately run facility so there will be no COVID-19 restrictions as there would have been at a public venue and it will be affordable for the association.
On behalf of the National Show Committee I can say that we refused to stand down until all options were exhausted.
Therefore we are happy to announce that the National Championship Show has a new home and new dates. We will be showing at Clearview Farm, Shelbyville, Tenn., July 23-25.
The decision to change dates was not made lightly and we are truly sorry if any of our members are not able to make the change. For the overall good of the association, we chose not to cancel this year's show.
There will be changes to the entry forms coming soon. The price of stalls will change, class fees will stay the same. Howard Rea, Teresa Visser and Tina Langness will be judging at the National Show.
There are 75 stalls at the Clearview Farm and we will allow jumpouts for a fee. There are 22 camping spaces with electricity.
As this is a private facility there are no enforced rules about masks. Please feel free to wear one if you would like, they will no longer be mandatory.
