Jake Clark's Mule Days 2021

Bryan Mahoney, Mahoney Mule Co., had the highest selling mule  consigned to Jake Clark’s Mule Days for 2021. Zenna, a 7-year-old, 14.2 hand grey mare mule who was described as “the complete package of beauty, brains, attitude and ability” sold for $46,000 to a buyer from California. The 24th annual Jake Clark Mule Days was back in Ralston, Wyo., for the 2021 event. Buyers and sellers and those just excited to be out of the house spent four days enjoying some of the best mule action in the nation. Events included mule mounted shooting, mule team roping and barrel racing, an all mule rodeo, an all mule parade and the grand finale of the week, a great mule sale. Jake and Kay Clark open their town to the mule world each June and it should be on your bucket list if you have not made it there yet. 

Mark Bailey won the All Around Saddle this year. The bucking mules were outstanding and provided contestants a challenge to make it to the eight second time. The most heard phrase of the week was, “We are so happy to be here this year - in person!” 

On Sunday, the high-selling mule, Zenna, came in at $46,000 and was consigned by Bryan Mahoney, of Mahoney Mule Company. “No fluke, just a great mule with great training and with a great mind!” said the Clark’s about Zenna. “That’s what the top trainers and the buyers always want.” 

2021 Jake Clark’s Mule Days High-Sellers

Alena Schafer’s consignment Molly sold for $40,000, coming in as reserve high-selling mule of the sale. Molly is a 9-year-old, 15.1-hand, dun mare mule. 

Shawn and Nellie Petersen, Petersen Mule Company, had the third highest-selling mule at $35,000. Cricket is 9-year-old, 14.3-hand black mare mule. 

Bryan Mahoney, Mahoney Mule Co., also had the fourth highest-selling mule of the sale. Rose, a 4-year-old, 14.1-hand sorrel mare mule, sold for $30,000 to a buyer in Utah.

Jesse and Karen Rodenbough had the fifth highest-selling mule of the sale. Rosa, a 9-year-old, 14.2-hand dun mare mule sold for $29,000.

Mark Bailey, Wild Bunch Mule Co., on Sport in the Wild Cow Milking. Mark won the All-Around Saddle at this year’s event. Sport sold for $26,500 and was the sixth highest-selling mule of the sale. Sport is a 14-year-old, 14.3 hand sorrel horse mule.

Jeff and Christina Tift had the sixth highest-selling mule, Cranberry Kate, selling for $26,000. Cranberry Kate is a five-year-old, 15.2-hand sorrel mare mule.

Shawn and Nellie Petersen also had the seventh highest-selling mule at $25,000. Ruby is a 10-year-old, 15-hand bay mare mule.
